Sandman: a game of you
WRITTEN BY Neil Gaiman
ILLUSTRATED BY Shaw McManus, Collen Doran, Bryan Talbot, George Pratt, Stan Woch and Dick Giordano

With a swift elegance Neil Gaiman mixes fantasy with reality, humor with thrill. Aided by Shawn McManus, Collen Doran, Bryan Talbot and more who has depicted the comic he creates this spooky-weird story: A Game of You.

Most girls have someday, in their life dreamed of being Sandman: a game of you a princess. So did Barbara, when she was a kid. And she is — in her dreams. But those are just dreams... or so she thought.
When Barbara loses the skill of dreaming her dreams decides to pay her a visit instead. And she finds herself back in a world she had only thought existed in her imagination.

I had heard about Neil Gaiman and Sandman a lot, but had never actually read the comic. I wonder why, since I can recall many times passing by, with my gaze, the weird collages of the Sandman covers wondering what is hiding behind them. It's about dreams and what better way is it to describe it than in a collage, by fragments of bits and pieces here and there. Scattered in a mist blur.
The comic itself is truly original and what I truly enjoyed is the different characters Gaiman managed depicting so well.
There is Wanda, who looks at life with that bit of spooky irony. Her cynicism almost scares me sometimes. There's this little smart female bird named Luz. She's always so calm and seems so wise. She reminds me of someone I used to know. And then there is Wilkinson, I just can not get enough of this guy. He's constantly blathering about this and that and you just can not help laughing, no matter how though or miserable the situation is.

For the short time these guys walked around in my head I've come to miss them too.
